Do not buy insurance in PZU while doing business in Poland!!!
Use
instead good international companies. Never trust Polish insurance companies!
This
is a good advice. Why? Because PZU – similar to
many other state-derived companies in Poland is a mafia-style organization
stealing money from its customers and not a bona fide insurance company.
Think twice before you invest something in Poland – it is a wild, wild market!
You may gain, but you may also loose a lot…
Back in 1999 I have purchased a complete car insurance in PZU. The insurance premium was paid in four installments. One month after paying the last installment my car – worth $ 5000 – was stolen. It was stolen from the center of Warsaw, one block from the Palace of the Polish President as one of the 70 cars stolen every day in Warsaw (but this is a different story…).
I did not have the receipt for the 3rd installment – I just have lost it. PZU used it as an excuse to say, that I did not have a valid insurance despite the fact that they accepted the 4th installment one month earlier and put it into their computer system. Can you imagine that?
I have put my case to a Polish court. Finally in March of 2004 a court decided that I was not entitled to the insurance compensation and ordered me to pay to the PZU almost $ 600 fee for a legal consultation. It is a lot of money, taking into consideration that an MD ad a Medical School earns $ 200 per month.
Let this be a lesson to you, do not buy PZU insurance…. PZU sucks!
